A companion app needs to give fans a reason to return between broadcasts. The Berlin - Tag & Nacht app did that by extending the social side of the show beyond its TV slot.
The product turned the TV format into an ongoing community touchpoint. Fans could catch up, react, play along, and stay close to the show in everyday use.
Core differentiator
The app turned fandom into participation. Fans could react through votes, quizzes, chat, emojis, rankings, selfie filters, and playful mechanics such as `Swiper` or `Swing-O-Meter`.
The result was a community experience around the series, with episode viewing as one part of it.
